A Lowestoft 'Dolphin Ewer' creamboat Circa 1770-75Shell-shaped with a plain loop handle,low
pedestal foot, painted in blue with flower sprigs, loop and dot border
inside the rim, this small Suffolk factory started production about
1747 and ended around 1799, producing soft-paste porcelians with bone-ash;
for the first ten years decoration was confined to underglaze blue painted
wares, usually in chinoiserie patterns, output was mainly utilitarian
wares and mainly catering for the local markets. Lowestoft porcelain
is now becoming highly sought after by collectors world wide and fine
