A Lowestoft sauceboat Circa 1765

Moulded strap-fluted ground reserved with cartouches edged with leafy sprays and flowers, painted in blue with Chinese scenes depicting a figure fishing from a sampan by an island with a building, small sprigs around the footrim, a diaper border reserved with flowerheads inside the rim, a spray inside the base, 18.2cm long, Lowestoft started production about 1747 and ended around 1799, producing soft-paste porcelians with bone-ash; for the first ten years decoration was confined to underglaze blue painted wares, usually in chinoiserie patterns, output was mainly utilitarian wares and mainly catering for the local markets. Lowestoft porcelain is now becoming highly sought after by collectors world wide and fine examples are rare,

Condition - excellent conditon, minor wear. No restoration or repair
