A good Worcester Teapot and Cover Circa 1770,

Cover with flower finial, painted in Japan style in underglaze blue, iron red, green and gold with a prunus sprig and japanese flowers and foliage, Chinese and Japanese styles played an inportant part in the way that English wares were decorated, this teapot is no exception painted in a Japanese imari style, it could have been copied directly from Japanese porcelain , ( the square or fret mark, painted in underglaze blue ),14cms.

Condition - excellent conditon, minor wear, very minor chip to spout and flower finial. No restoration or repair
